Elias Neocleous & Co LLC is very proud to support the Legal 500 GC Powerlist for Greece and Cyprus
Recognising the crucial role of the in-house general counsel, Elias Neocleous & Co LLC was delighted to co-sponsor the inaugural Legal 500 GC Powerlist: Greece and Cyprus. The list, developed by the leading legal publisher Legal 500, focuses on the people driving commerce forward from within, highlighting the most influential in-house lawyers in business today. The publication of the list for Greece and Cyprus was marked by a reception held in Athens on 10 May attended by well over a hundred nominees and guests.
Following the global financial crisis, the role of the general counsel has changed significantly, with in-house lawyers extending their sphere beyond the traditional focus on compliance and litigation to a much more proactive and strategic involvement in helping their businesses find their way through uncharted waters. Lawyers working in in-house roles, particularly in small and medium-size enterprises, have had to extend their skill set beyond their legal expertise and develop commercial, management and communications skills.
Our firm has welcomed this change from the outset, since it results in better-informed and more discerning clients, and improves client-firm communications. Our business model is based on providing high-quality, responsive service to our clients, tailored to their needs and adding value to their business. Working together with informed in-house legal advisers who are aware of the legal framework and its technicalities and at the same time able to articulate the commercial background and future goals and strategy of their company makes it easier for us to help our clients meet their objectives and safeguard their interests.
We are proud to have contributed to such a forward-looking initiative and we offer our warmest congratulations to all participants and nominees. We hope that this inaugural event will foster increased recognition of the role played by in-house legal advisers and the value they add, and we look forward to supporting similar initiatives that advance the legal profession and improve standards.
